In 2007, after reading the book, "The Gift of Change", by Marianne Williamson, I decided to simply show up and let the Universe guide me during my 21 days in Sedona, Arizona. Of course, the events which lead to this journey are more complex. They included an internal personal shift from anger to love during a divorce, the act of complete surrender during a dark night of the soul and the deep acceptance of what is while trusting that all is well. When you let go and allow flow back into your life, you naturally realign with the vortex of energy which resonates with your higher purpose. As I began each day during my trip with no specific agenda, people and invitations presented themselves to me. One of them included attending an open session by medium Summer Bacon in the auditorium of a local high school.
An eye opening experience. Although aware of the existence throughout history of such methods of communication, I had neither researched or shown an interest in participating in such events. Once I talked myself into releasing my skepticism, I allowed the event to unfold. First, Summer explained her story and timeline for how she began to channel Dr. James M. Peebles, deceased in 1922 after having lived a most active life traveling the world five times as a writer, medical doctor, naturopath, minister and mystic. She took great pains to explain that she was not here today to convince anyone of the legitimacy of the work she did. With self deprecating humour, she put me at ease and I was only slightly taken aback when I observed her transition into trance and the voice of Dr. Peebles began to address the audience. In absolute amazement and delight, I observed a spirit interacting with joy, wisdom, fun and great gentleness with individuals, who asked their questions once their names were picked from a hat. The fact that this Q & A between worlds managed to answer many of my own questions did not escape me. Although I had also placed my name on a small piece of paper upon entering the venue, I felt my chances were slim given the hundreds of people in attendance for the taped radio event. Instead I focused on the gratitude I felt and gave thanks for being a witness to this spiritual discourse. Seconds later, my name was called. The portable mike was handed to me and I wondered what to say, since I had no questions prepared. An hour before, I had not known of the existence of Summer or Dr. Peebles. I first thanked the audience for all their insightful questions and then something totally unexpected happened. I asked Dr. Peebles, how Summer and I could resource ourselves after doing the physically demanding work of acting as channel for the spirit world. The question itself appeared timely, since Summer had explained before going into this trance how drained she felt after the sessions, but adding that "I" also channeled....Where did that come from?! Dr. Peebles explained that Summer 's situation was more complicated, but that I should hold a glass of water when I felt strong and energetic, then set it aside to drink only when I felt that my energy was depleted. Later on in this trip, I would be presented with the work of Dr. Masaru Emoto about using water to transmit the healing energy of pure intention through the use of prayer, words and music. There was much more said that pertained to my personal journey, but you get the idea. Years later, in a coffee shop on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, a young boy of twelve and I had a very intellectually stimulating conversation about life. Before he left with his mother, he handed me a business card with three words printed in large text, "Expect a Miracle". When my channel is open, messages are received in the most interesting ways.
